In brief: Profits and production down at Colombia’s Ecopetrol

*Colombia’s state oil company Ecopetrol has released its financial results for the first quarter of 2026, showing a 7.7% drop in net profits in yearly terms. Net profits in Q1 2026 totalled Col$2.89tn (US$763.36m), down from Col$3.13tn in Q1 2025. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) were up 1.5% at Col$13.46tn. Total sales were down 5.5% year-on-year, averaging at 903,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), while total production fell by 2.7% to 725,200 boepd. This consisted of 578,200 boepd in crude production (-0.6%) and 147,100 boepd in gas and other fuels (-10.1%).
