*Mexico’s national social security institute (IMSS) has reported that 23,923 jobs were created in April compared with 47,442 losses in April 2025. According to the same report, 231,527 jobs were created in Mexico from January to April 2026, while 330,935 have been created in the past year, up 1.5% year-on-year. As of 30 April, 22.75m jobs were registered by the IMSS, which it describes as the third-highest monthly figure on record and the highest ever for a month of April. Of the total, 86.9% are permanent and 13.1% are temporary. The economic sectors to have registered the highest annual growth in job creation in April were transportation and communications (+10.9%), commerce (+3.1%), and business services (+2.1%). The states that have seen the greatest job growth are Estado de México, Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Hidalgo, all up 2.5% year-on-year.
