BOLIVIA: Corruption allegations at the central bank

Edwin Rojas, who served as president of Bolivia’s central bank (BCB) under former president Luis Arce (2020-2025), was arrested on 28 April as part of an investigation into irregular bond purchases. Under President Rodrigo Paz, authorities are combing through the records to uncover alleged corruption under Arce, who was himself placed in pre-trial detention in December [WR-25-49].
