As he bids to get his presidency back on track after a bruising first month in office that has seen his popularity suffer a serious slump, Chile’s President José Antonio Kast signed off on his flagship ‘plan of national reconstruction and economic and social development’ on 22 April and sent it to congress for approval. Kast has been holding off on sending what has been dubbed, more pithily, his ‘mega reform’ to congress for over a month while he set about trying to secure the support of opposition deputies.
