ECUADOR: Majority of population facing curfews in May

A curfew will be imposed on over 70% of Ecuador’s population from 3-18 May, when restrictions on night-time movement will come into force in nine of the country’s 24 provinces. This is the latest escalation of President Daniel Noboa’s war on crime, which is again building in intensity after 2025 saw a record number of homicides.
