In brief: Argentina posts rise in fiscal surplus

*Argentina’s economy ministry has released the public sector fiscal statistics for March, showing a primary surplus of Ar$930.28bn (US$686.04m). The financial surplus stood at Ar$484.79bn, resulting from the primary figure and monthly debt interest payments which totalled Ar$445.50bn. The primary surplus for March was up 24.8% compared with the surplus registered in March 2025 while the financial surplus was up 21.5% in year-on-year terms. According to the same figures, the financial surplus in the first quarter of 2026 represented approximately 0.2% of GDP while the primary surplus was approximately 0.5% of GDP.
