*The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released its latest World Economic Outlook (WEO), in which it projects that Mexico’s economy will expand 1.6% in 2026 and 2.2% in 2027, slightly up from 1.5% and 2.1% respectively in its previous (January) WEO. The IMF estimates that Mexico’s GDP grew 0.6% in 2025. The IMF’s overall forecast for Latin America and the Caribbean, whose economy it estimates grew 2.4% in 2025, was 2.3% in 2026, up from 2.2% in its previous forecast, while its projection for 2027 of 2.7% was unchanging. As regards Brazil, the region’s biggest economy, the IMF is forecasting 1.9% GDP growth in 2026, up from its January forecast of 1.6% while for 2027 it is forecasting growth of 2.0%, down from 2.3% forecast in January. The latest IMF WEO estimates that Brazil’s GDP expanded 2.3% in 2025, down from 2.5% in its January estimate.
