In brief: Argentina’s GDP grows year-on-year

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has reported that the country’s GDP increased by 4.4% in 2025. According to Indec, this was due to an increase in private consumption (+7.9%), public consumption (+0.2%), exports (+7.6%), and gross fixed capital formation (+16.4%). In 2025, GDP growth was registered in 12 of the 16 sectors measured, with the greatest year-on-year growth registered in financial mediation (+24.7%), mining (+8.0%), and hotels and restaurants (+7.4%). The sectors with the greatest year-on-year contractions were fishing (-15.2%) and private homes with domestic services (-1.1%). The fourth quarter of 2025 registered the lowest year-on-year growth, of 2.1%, following growth of 5.8% in the first quarter, 6.4% in the second, and 3.3% in the third.
