Nasry Asfura, who took office on 27 January, has announced that his conservative Partido Nacional (PN) government will have access to up to US$2m after Honduras’ 128-member unicameral legislature ratified a donation from the Latin American development bank (CAF). According to a CAF press release, US$1m will go on the purchase of school supplies across the country, while another US$1m will be assigned for infrastructure projects along with water and sanitation initiatives, among other things. The announcement follows a meeting on 20 March between CAF’s executive president,
Sergio Díaz-Granados, and President Asfura. According to CAF, the two sides discussed the government’s finance plan for 2026-2030 which seeks to
“drive strategic projects for sustainable development nationwide” and permit the country to access
