*Mexico’s state-run electricity firm, Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), has presented its portfolio for 2026-2027, which includes 49 bidding packages comprising 58 projects aimed at boosting electricity transmission through greater private sector participation. The expansion plan includes the building of 138 transmission lines and 249 substations, with mixed financing through energy and infrastructure trusts, known as Fibra E, and funding for public works. The CFE announced that, as of March 2026, five projects are already in the bidding process with investment exceeding M$1.05bn (US$59.01m), while 14 additional projects worth over M$6.7bn are expected to be put out to bid in the coming months. During the event, the CFE director general,
Emilia Esther Calleja Alor, announced that the projects were part of the CFE’s wider 2025-2030 expansion plan, aimed at driving the country’s energy development through collaboration among government agencies, contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers.
“Coordination among those who plan, finance, build, and operate the electric grid is key to ensuring its viability. Today we are not just presenting projects; we are building Mexico’s energy future,” she said.
