In brief: Costa Rica’s unemployment edges up in quarterly terms

*Costa Rica’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released new figures showing that the unemployment rate for the November 2025-January 2026 rolling quarter was 6.6%. This is up from 6.3% in the previous rolling quarter but down from 7.0% in the same period a year earlier. In absolute terms, the unemployed population in the November 2025-January 2026 rolling quarter was 154,000 people, of whom 92,000 were men and 63,000 were women.
