Bolivia’s fuel saga takes on new dimension

Liberalising the rules around fuel imports and sales was hailed by Bolivia’s President Rodrigo Paz as one of his government’s key early achievements, which helped resolve fuel shortages that plagued the country under his predecessor Luis Arce (2020-2025). Now, however, protests have begun to spring up as motorists maintain that the fuel being supplied is of low quality and is causing engine damage.
