In brief: Brazil’s vehicle production down in January

*Brazil’s national association of vehicle manufacturers (Anfavea) has released the monthly production figures for January, showing 159,600 vehicles produced. This is down 13.5% compared to the 184,500 units produced in December and down 12.0% compared to 181,400 units in January 2025. Of the various vehicle categories, light commercial vehicles posted the greatest monthly drop, registering 30,500 units in January, down 20.0% on the previous month. The greatest year-on-year decrease was registered by trucks, with monthly production totalling 6,800 units, down 15.6% compared to January last year. Anfavea’s latest report also includes the sales and exports figures for January, which showed a total of 170,500 units sold in the domestic market and 25,900 units shipped abroad. This latest sales result is down 39.0% in monthly terms and down 0.4% year-on-year. The January export figure marks a 38.3% increase compared to December but an 18.3% decrease compared to January 2025.
