*Brazilian mining company Vale has released its annual production figures for 2025, which showed a total of 336.08m tonnes (t) of iron ore produced. This marks a 2.6% increase on the 327.68m t produced in 2024. Regarding other mining products, annual copper production in 2025 totalled 382,400 t, up 9.8% on the previous year, and nickel production totalled 177,200 t, up 10.8% compared to 2024. Iron pellet production saw a yearly drop, registering a total of 31.36m t, down 15.0% year-on-year. In a press release, Vale highlighted that these annual production results for iron ore and copper are the highest since 2018, while annual nickel production is the highest it has been since 2022. The company attributed the annual increases to ramp-ups of key projects, such as the Capanema and VGR1 iron mining facilities, both in the state of Minas Gerais, as well as some of Vale’s assets in Canada, such as the Voisey’s Bay nickel mine in Newfoundland and Labrador province.
