*Panama’s minister of the presidency,
Juan Carlos Orillac, has revealed that Panama’s main international airport, Tocumen International (AIT), in Panama City, registered 20.98m passengers in 2025, up 9% on 2024 while it posted revenue of US$315m, up 7% on 2024. Orillac was speaking at an event which took place at AIT, which serves as a regional hub for the Americas and the Caribbean, to outline results from the tourism and airport sectors from last year. At the same event, the AIT's general manager,
José Ruiz Blanco, said that the AIT was projecting that 22.60m passengers could be registered at the airport this year, translating into revenue of between US$334m-US$356m. At the same event,
Jorge Correa, the head of the government’s tourism authority (ATP), said that in general terms Panama received 2.4m tourists in the first ten months of 2025, up 1.7% on the previous year while revenue from the sector totalled US$5.4bn. Correa also said that there had been a record number of tourists opting to stay overnight in the country, exceeding 200,000 visitors in 2025, up 25% on 2024. Meanwhile
Sara Pardo, the vice president of the board of directors of tourism promotion agency Promtur, attributed the growth in tourism to “
digital campaigns”, and “
strategic national and international alliances”, saying that tourism from the main European markets was up over 40% while that from Latin America was up over 14%.
