Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum found herself again having to refute speculation of US military action in Mexican territory this week. This came as a US military aircraft was spotted at Toluca airport, Estado de México (Edomex), and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned US airlines to exercise caution when flying over Mexico due to “military activities”. The developments come as Sheinbaum continues to face pressure from the US government of President Donald Trump to let the US join military operations in Mexico and as Trump has upped threats to send in the military unilaterally if Mexico does not crack down on drug cartels. In the face of this pressure, the Mexican government has upped arrests of alleged cartel members in recent days and enacted another mass transfer of prisoners to the US, bringing the total number of prisoners transferred this way to almost 100.End of preview - This article contains approximately 1504 words.
