Bernardo Arévalo has underlined the impact of public investment under the first two years of his four-year mandate. As regards health, he said that while the previous government led by former president
Alejandro Giammattei (2020-2024) had constructed four medical clinics during its entire mandate, under his government, 42 had been constructed in two years. He said that works were under way currently on three hospitals located in the departments of Quiché and Chiquimula (both of which are being expanded), and Sololá where a new hospital is being built from scratch. As regards education, Arévalo highlights the overhaul of over 22,000 schools in two years, far beyond the 4,000 during the entire previous administration and said that 534 new secondary schools would open next month. He also highlighted that over the past two years, 6,000 new police officers had been hired while last year, 4,000 teachers and 2,800 health officials were hired.
