*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the latest inflation figures, showing that monthly inflation in December was 0.33% while annual inflation for 2025 stood at 4.26%. This monthly rate marks an acceleration from the 0.18% inflation registered
for November, but the annual rate is down from 4.46%. The results for December mean that Brazil’s annual inflation for 2025 falls within the target range of 3.0% +/-1.5, unlike the previous year which closed with an
annual rate of 4.83%. Monthly inflation in December was driven by transport (0.74%) while the category to post the second highest monthly rise was household items (0.64%). Only one of the nine categories of products and services measured saw a monthly decrease in prices in December, which was housing, with a deflation rate of 0.33%.
