ARGENTINA: Milei seeks to hit ground running in 2026

Argentina’s President Javier Milei received significant gifts over the festive season. After two years of battling a hostile congress, Milei saw the passage of key legislative initiatives in late December as his far-right La Libertad Avanza (LLA), bolstered by October’s mid-term election result, started to make its presence felt. Milei’s main priority is to move the economy on to a sounder footing, bringing inflation down towards a single-digit annual rate and lifting international reserves to better insulate the country against financial crises and external shocks.
