In brief: Mexico’s gov’t revokes licence of sanctioned brokerage firm

*Mexico’s finance ministry (SHCP) has revoked the licence of brokerage firm Vector Casa de Bolsa, one of three financial companies sanctioned by the US in June due to allegedly laundering money for drug cartels. The SHCP also revoked the licence of Vector Fondos, a fund linked to the brokerage firm. The SHCP announced the revocations in two separate rulings issued in the official gazette (DOF), stating it was revoking Vector Casa de Bolsa’s “authorisation to organise and operate as a brokerage firm” and the “authorisation for the organisation and operation of the investment fund management company”, in reference to Vector Fondos. Mexico’s bank bailout agency, Instituto para la Protección al Ahorro Bancario (Ipab), revoked the operating licence of CIBanco, one of the banks sanctioned alongside Vector Casa de Bolsa, in October.
