BRAZIL: Rio police launch new phase of controversial operation
On 11 December the civil and military police forces of Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro state began a new phase of ‘Operação Contenção’, an operation which was first launched in October and made headlines as the deadliest police operation in Brazilian history, with over 120 killings registered.
