BRAZIL | Retail sales see monthly decrease. The national statistics institute (Ibge) released figures on 13 November for the country’s retail sales in September, showing a monthly decrease of 0.3% in sales volume. Of the eight categories of products measured by the Ibge, six saw a monthly decrease in sales. The categories with the greatest monthly declines were books, newspapers, magazines, and stationery (-1.6%) and fabrics, clothing, and footwear (-1.2%). The only categories to register a monthly increase were pharmaceutical, medical, and orthopaedic items, and perfumes (+1.3%) and other items for personal and domestic use (+0.5%).
