*Argentina’s Foreign Minister
Pablo Quirno has submitted an initial memorandum to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as part of the country’s efforts to join the OECD. According to an OECD statement, the memorandum is a “
preliminary self-assessment by Argentina of alignment with OECD standards of Argentina’s legislation, policies and practices. Its submission launches the technical phase of the OECD accession process”. In January 2022 the OECD council took the decision to open accession discussions with Argentina, while in March 2024 the 38 OECD member countries adopted an accession roadmap for the country. According to the same OECD statement, with the submission of the memorandum, in-depth technical dialogue will now start, with 25 expert committees covering
“a wide range of policy issues including investment climate, financial markets, and regional development”.
