*China has lifted a suspension on the import of Brazilian poultry which had been in force
since May in response to concerns about bird flu. According to a statement from Brazil’s agriculture ministry, Brazil has officially been free of bird flu since 18 June, when it concluded infection control procedures. The statement added that Canada is now the only country to retain a total suspension on Brazilian poultry exports. According to the agriculture ministry, Brazil is the world’s largest exporter of chicken, accounting for 35% of the global market.
