*Mexico’s association of insurance institutions (Amis) has announced that 4,008 insurance claims have been made in relation to the torrential rains that hit parts of central and eastern Mexico earlier this month, with initial damages estimated at M$1.21bn (US$65.36m). Of these claims, Amis said 62% concerned property damage while 38% related to vehicular damage. Amis stated that these figures will continue to be updated as reports and damage assessment processes progress.
