COLOMBIA: Uribe is the new comeback kid
Colombia’s former president Álvaro Uribe (2002-2010), a champion of the right, has benefitted from a court ruling throwing out an earlier conviction and associated 12-year house arrest sentence for bribery, fraud and witness tampering. If the decision stands (one further appeal is still possible), Uribe will almost certainly play a critical role in the 2026 presidential elections.
