Andean Group - October 2025

We begin this October 2025 edition of the Latin American Regional Report: Andean Group with a pair of articles exploring how two very different governments have responded to the priorities of US President Donald Trump. The first of these looks at Venezuela, whose already tense relationship with Washington has plumbed new depths amid a US military build-up in the Caribbean since August. Whilst Trump says that he is taking necessary action to stem the flow of drug shipments from Venezuela, Maduro claims that the US is preparing to overthrow his government by force, as we discuss in the first article.
