*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released its latest monthly estimate of economic activity (Emae), showing a monthly increase of 0.3% in August. This monthly rise comes after three consecutive monthly decreases, with a 0.1% drop in July, a 0.6% drop in June, and a 0.2% drop in May. Economic activity in August was also up 2.4% on the same month last year, which is lower than the 2.9% year-on-year increase registered in July. The categories that registered the greatest yearly increases in August were financial services (+26.5%), mining and quarrying (+9.3%), and hotels and restaurants (+6.4%). The categories with the greatest year-on-year decreases in activity were manufacturing (-5.1%), wholesale and retail trade (-1.7%), and electricity, gas, and water (-1.6%).
