BRAZIL: Government readies new legislation against organised crime

On 22 October Brazil’s minister for justice and public security, Ricardo Lewandowski, sent a draft bill to the office of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the government’s chief of staff, Rui Costa, which proposes measures to tackle organised crime, such as tougher sentences for gang members.
