In brief: Argentina’s economic activity down again in monthly terms

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released its latest monthly estimate of economic activity (Emae), showing a monthly 0.1% decline in July. This marks the third consecutive month to register a monthly drop in economic activity, following a 0.6% drop in June and a 0.2% decrease in May. However, in year-on-year terms the Emae showed a 2.9% rise in activity compared to July 2024, down from an annual increase of 6.1% in June. Of the 16 sectors measured by the Indec, eleven saw year-on-year increases in activity. The greatest yearly rises were registered in financial services (+23.2%) and mining and quarrying (+13.4%), while the greatest declines were registered in fishing (-85.7%) and manufacturing (-1.8%).
