*El Salvador’s central bank (BCR) has released new figures showing that remittances to El Salvador totalled US$6.54bn in the first eight months of 2025, up 18.3% on the same period in 2024 according to a report by state newspaper

According to the same newspaper report, the US remains by far the main source of remittances, accounting for US$6.04bn in the first eight months of 2025, up 19.3% on the same period in 2024, followed by Canada (US$56.1m, +1.9%), Spain (US$43.3m, +16.4%), Italy (US$37.9m, +11.6%), and Mexico (US$8.5m, +5%).
