Santiago Peña has met with Vietnam’s President
Luong Cuong on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. On social media, Peña said the pair discussed how to strengthen ties between Paraguay and Vietnam and explore new opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, and sustainable development.
“This meeting reflects our commitment to projecting Paraguay onto the world stage and consolidating relations with nations of growing global influence,” wrote Peña. In a video posted on social media, Paraguay’s Foreign Minister
Rubén Ramírez stated the meeting had also addressed the continuation of negotiations for a free trade deal between Vietnam and the Mercosur trade bloc comprising Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Bolivia, as well as the possibility of Peña visiting Vietnam.
