DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Abinader sanctions new penal code
The Dominican Republic’s President Luis Abinader has taken the bold decision to promulgate a new penal code that by his own admission is not perfect and could have been better. To justify his decision, which could stoke public discontent, Abinader argued that despite its flaws, the new code will introduce significant improvements to the Dominican Republic’s criminal justice framework.
