In brief: Unemployment down in Argentina

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released new figures showing that the unemployment rate of the economically active population was 7.6% in the second quarter of 2025, equating to 1.1m people. This is down from an unemployment rate of 7.9% in the first quarter of the year, but up from unemployment rates of 6.4% and 6.9% in the fourth and third quarters of 2024 respectively. The unemployment rate was unchanged from a year earlier. The underemployment rate in the second quarter of 2025 stood at 11.6%, up from 10.0% in the previous quarter and down from 11.8% in the second quarter of 2024.
