In brief: Remittances to Dominican Republic up

*The Dominican Republic’s central bank (BCRD) has released new figures showing that remittances to the country totalled US$7.92bn in the first eight months of 2025, up 11.4% on the same period in 2024. In August alone the country received US$1.05bn in remittances, up 9.9% on the same month in 2024. The US is the main source of remittances, accounting for 80.4% of remittances in August, followed by Spain (7.6%), Italy (1.5%), Haiti (1.3%), and Switzerland (1.2%).
