*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its figures for the country’s retail sales in July, showing a 0.3% monthly drop in sales volume. In year-on-year terms, the sales volume in July was up 1.0% on the same month in 2024, and the accumulated annual volume for the 12 months until July 2025 was up 2.5% as compared to the preceding 12-month period. This is the fourth consecutive month to register a monthly drop in sales, following a 0.1% drop
in June, 0.4% drop in May, and a 0.3% drop in April. Of the eight product categories measured by the Ibge, four saw monthly decreases in July. The greatest declines were registered in information and communications equipment and office supplies (-3.1%) and fabrics, clothing, and footwear (-2.9%).
