BOLIVIA: Next gov’t could bring tougher rules on coca

Security issues did not receive much attention ahead of the 17 August first round of Bolivia’s general election, which produced a crushing defeat for the ruling left-wing Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS). But the run-off election, which will be held on 19 October between two conservative candidates, could auger significant changes to Bolivian drug policy.
