*Brazil’s state-controlled oil company Petrobras has released its latest financial results, which showed a net profit of R$26.65bn (US$4.91bn) for the second quarter and R$61.86bn for the first half of 2025. The first half result is up 193.2% compared to the R$21.09bn profit registered in the first half of 2024, while the latest quarterly result is down 24% from the R$35.21bn profit posted in the previous quarter, while it is up from the net loss of R$2.61bn registered in the second quarter of 2024. Sales revenue stood at R$119.13bn in Q2 2025, down 3.3% on the previous quarter and down 2.6% year-on-year. In the first half of the year, sales revenue stood at R$242.27bn, up 1.0% compared to the first half of 2024.
