In brief: Costa Rica’s deflation quickens

*Costa Rica’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released new figures showing the country posted monthly deflation of -0.52% in July, bringing the year-on-year rate to -0.61%. According to Inec the monthly deflation rate is the highest since February 2023. It highlights that the categories driving monthly deflation were food and non-alcoholic drinks (-1.17%) and recreation, sport, and culture (-1.91%).
