BRAZIL: Bolsonaro’s legal woes deepen with new restrictions

Supreme court (STF) justice Alexandre de Moraes has ordered for precautionary measures to be placed on former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023), including an electronic ankle monitor, a curfew, and a ban on contacting foreign officials or entering embassies. Bolsonaro is due to stand trial for allegedly plotting a coup to remain in power after losing the 2022 election, but his legal position is becoming increasingly precarious, as he could face pre-trial detention if he violates the restrictions.
