In brief: Brazil’s government raises growth forecast

*The economic policy secretariat (SPE) of Brazil’s finance ministry has released the latest edition of its bi-monthly economic report Boletim MacroFiscal, which showed an annual GDP growth forecast of 2.5% for 2025. This marks a slight increase from the SPE’s previous forecast of 2.4% in May. The July edition of the Boletim MacroFiscal showed a growth projection of 7.8% for the agricultural sector, up from 6.3% in the May edition, while the latest forecast for services was 2.1%, up from 2.0% in May. However, growth for the industrial sector was revised down from 2.2% in May to 2.0% in the July edition. The report also showed the government’s latest inflation projection, which forecasts an annual inflation rate of 4.9% for 2025, down slightly from the 5.0% in the May report.
