*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has announced that the country registered a trade deficit of US$697.9m in the first six months of 2025, down from a surplus of US$469.0m in the same period last year. Exports from January-June 2025 totalled US$7.8bn, down 7.6% on the US$8.5bn registered in the same period last year. Imports over the same period totalled US$8.5bn, up 6.6% from US$8.0bn. The reduction in exports was primarily concentrated in primary products, which fell by a combined 15.3% year-on-year to total US$5.4bn. The drop was led by soybean exports, which fell by 25.1% to stand at US$4.1bn. Exports of manufactured agricultural products were up by a combined 0.8% year-on-year at US$2.4bn, while exports of industrial manufactured goods were up by 1.6% at US$264.9m.
