*Peru’s energy and mining ministry has announced that mining investment totalled US$1.44bn between January and April, up by 7.3% compared with the same period in 2024. Investment in mineral exploration was up by 48.9% at US$215m, with the mining and energy ministry highlighting four projects – Los Chancas (Apurímac region), Zafranal (Arequipa), San Gabriel (Moquegua), and Tambomayo (Arequipa). Investment in mining infrastructure was up 11% at US$315m. Moquegua was the region that accounted for the most mining investment in the first four months of the year, receiving 15.0% of the total, followed by Arequipa with 11.4%.
