In brief: Paraguay’s foreign trade down in first five months of 2025

*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released new foreign trade figures showing a trade deficit of US$538.4m in the first five months of the year, compared to a surplus of US$420.9m in the same period of 2024. Exports in January-May 2025 totalled US$6.5bn, down 9.1% on the first five months of 2024, while imports totalled US$7.0bn, up 4.5% year-on-year. In 2024, Paraguay registered a trade deficit of US$538.8m, compared to a surplus of US$1.4bn in 2023.
