In brief: Inflation rises in Ecuador

*Ecuador’s national statistics institute (Inec) has published the consumer price index for May, putting monthly inflation at 1.03% – up from 0.27% in April. This brought annual inflation in May to 0.46%, up from -0.69% the previous month. The category which saw the steepest monthly price increase in May was housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels (+1.01%), followed by healthcare (+0.02%) and restaurants & hotels (+0.01%).
