*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has published the most recent data for the consumer price index (CPI), indicating that monthly inflation for May was 0.2%, bringing the yearly rate to 4.4%. The monthly rate remains the same as in
the previous month but is down from monthly inflation of 0.5%
in March. The yearly rate is down from 4.5% in April and 4.9% in March. Out of the 13 categories measured in the CPI, nine registered monthly price rises, with the INE highlighting rises in the food & non-alcoholic drinks (+0.3%) and household equipment and maintenance (+1.0%) categories. The category to register the largest monthly price decrease was insurance & financial services (-2.2%).
