In brief: Argentina’s Milei claims reserves target ‘not a problem’

*Argentina’s President Javier Milei has told streaming service Neura that the target set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding net international reserves, that these should be raised by US$4.4bn as of mid-June on media reports, was “not a problem”. He also highlighted that the accumulation of reserves loses relevance under increased exchange rate flexibility; the government announced a partial relaxation of currency controls after the IMF’s executive board gave final approval to a US$20bn loan in April.
