*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures showing that the unemployment rate in the February-April rolling quarter was 8.8% – up 0.3 percentage points from the same period in 2024, and up 0.1 percentage points on the immediately preceding January-March rolling quarter. In seasonally adjusted terms, unemployment stood at 8.7%, up 0.2 percentage points compared with the previous quarter. In year-on-year terms, the INE calculated that the number of people in work had increased by 0.2% in the February-April period. The informality rate reached 25.8%, down 2.4 percentage points on the same period of 2024.
