In brief: Brazil’s services sector grows in March

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its figures for the country’s services sector in March, showing a 0.3% monthly increase in the volume of services provided and a 1.9% increase compared to the same month in 2024. The accumulated services volume for the first quarter of 2025 was up 2.4% from Q1 2024, and the accumulated figure for the 12 months until March 2025 was up 3.0% compared to the preceding 12-month period. Of the five categories of services measured by the Ibge, three saw monthly increases in volume in March. The greatest increases were registered by transport and postal services (+1.7%) and services for families (+1.5%). Meanwhile, information and communications services posted a monthly drop of 0.2%, and professional and administrative services were up 0.6%. The other services category registered negligible variation from the previous month.
