*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has reported year-on-year declines in the country’s light vehicle production, exports, and domestic sales for April 2025. Production dropped by 9.1% compared to the same month in the previous year, with a total of 326,069 units manufactured. In annual terms, exports fell by 10.9% to 256,953 units, while domestic sales declined 4.6% to 108,298 units. Despite April’s downturn, cumulative production from January to April rose slightly by 0.9% year-on-year to 1.30m units, while sales were up 1.4% at 473,323 in the same period. However, exports over the same period fell to 1.03m units, marking a 7.3% decline from the first four months of 2024. Of these exports, the US remained the primary destination, accounting for 81.4% (840,790) of exports. These figures contrast with the results reported in March, which showed annual increases in domestic sales, exports and production, up 1.3%, 12.1%, and 3.8% respectively.
